NZBN outage for some entity types - 26th to 30th September 2019

Last Updated: Sep 16, 2019 02:15PM NZST

We’re upgrading our incorporated societies and charitable trusts registers, which means some NZBN API services will be unavailable while we do the work - between 6pm on Thursday 26 September and 8am on Monday 30 September.

What’s happening during that time?

We’re migrating the two registers to one of our other register platforms, which will affect API operations for  viewing full details and editing the following entity types:

• Sole traders
• Partnerships
• Trading trusts
• Public sector entities
• Limited partnerships (NZ and Overseas)
• Incorporated societies
• Charitable trusts

You will still be able to search by name or number for summary details for all types of businesses. However, you will not be able to get full details or edit one of the listed entities during this period. If you do make such a request, the API response will be an ‘entity not found’ error.

Will other entity types be impacted?

From 9:10am through to 9:40am on Saturday 29 September all entity types will not be searchable from the NZBN service. During this time you will still be able to use the API to get the full details for a specified entity other than the above types

What will happen once the work is done?

The NZBN API and website will be available from 8am on Monday 30 September.

The new incorporated societies and charitable trusts registers will have an improved look and offer services not previously available, such as registering new incorporated societies and charitable trusts online.

The upgrade will have a flow on effect to the NZBN API, making available additional details about incorporated societies (such as officer details, where provided).
